A burgeoning tradition at Fugang Yilin School, and ever popular with the students is our annual lock-in camping trip. This year it was hosted by the International School’s Grade Eight class. Their goal was to foster new relationships and strengthen old bonds with students and teachers alike across both the Bilingual and International departments, whilst engaging with a number of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) activities that encapsulate the values of the International Baccalaureate. This project-based learning is invaluable to the students and the values of Fugang Yilin School helped guide the students to a successful event.

在福港艺林学校，一年一度的封闭露营活动是一个新兴的传统，也一直受到学生们的欢迎。今年的活动由国际部八年级学生主办。他们的目标之一是增强双语部与国际部学生和教师之间友谊，之二是在一系列STEM活动中 (科学、技术、工程和数学)体现IB课程的价值。这种以项目为基础的学习对学生的成长来说是无价的，福港艺林学校的价值观帮助学生成功地完成了本次活动。

Preparation

In preparation of the event, the Grade Eight class did all their planning independently. They held meetings, made decisions and dealt with problems expertly. In planning they learned valuable skills for future events. They put together all the paperwork themselves in both fluent English and Chinese, prepared posters, tickets and advertising around the school. They gave presentations to teachers and to students to make sure everyone was kept abreast of developments as and when they happened. The Grade Eight class ran this project as they would a business, electing a President, Secretary, Financial Officer, and other appropriate roles, learning to work together as a team in order to give a spectacular night.

在准备活动的过程中，八年级的同学们独立完成了所有的准备工作。他们开会、做决策和处理问题，一切都是那么的娴熟。在策划环节，他们用流利的英语和汉语写好了活动文案，设计了活动海报和门票。他们向老师和同学们做了报告，以确保每个人都能及时了解事态的发展。八年级的同学们对待本次露营活动的认真程度不亚于竞选总裁、秘书、财务主管或参选人生中其他重要的角色。他们在一起学习如何作为团队合作，以营造一个难忘的夜晚。

On the Night

On the night, students and parents were greeted, a welcome presentation was given and tents were pitched. There were activities and games in line with the International Baccalaureate ‘unit of enquiry’ for the parents and students to participate in. The pitching of the tents was an engineering project in itself! As the night went on, the Grade Eight class handled each activity with a professional flair making sure no one was left out and everyone was having fun. Students participated in a scavenger hunt, an egg drop challenge, watched a film in English about self-awareness and self-reflection and then blew off some steam with a game of frisbee and some eSports.

活动当晚有一系列与IB课程相呼应的活动和游戏等着大家。部分活动是专门为家长和学生共同准备的，部分是学生单独的参加的。晚上七点，华灯初上，学校首先为学生和家长们举行了剪短的欢迎仪式。随后，老师、学生、家长共同搭起了帐篷。搭帐篷本身就是一项团队合作的大工程!随着夜色渐深，八年级的同学们以专业的态度与手法处理每一项活动，确保没有人被遗忘，每个人都玩得很开心。学生们参加了校园寻宝记、扔鸡蛋挑战、观看了一部关于自我意识和自我反思的英语电影，最后用飞盘游戏和电子竞技来舒缓一星期紧张的学习压力。

The Aftermath

The goal of A Night to Remember was to empower students with self determination and independence, whilst engaging them with a number of educational activities and games. On this basis, the night was a fantastic success and the students are still talking about it. We hope the students have learned from their experiences here, and come closer together as a family at our wonderful school.

“难忘的夜晚”的目标是赋予学生自主和独立的能力，同时让他们参与一些有教育意义活动和游戏。从这个角度上说，这个夜晚是非常成功的，因为露营夜仍是同生们茶余饭后的谈资。我们希望同学生在这次经历中成长，彼此像家人一样在福港艺林生活学习。
